The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Programme is a two year professional programme in the field of Teacher Education which aims at preparing School Teachers, generally known as B.Ed. This is a professional programme that prepares teachers for upper primary, secondary level (classes VI -X) and higher secondary level (classes XI-XII ).

Also aims at preparing practitioners and other educational professionals including manpower for curriculum development, planners, administrators, supervisors, school principals and for extension activities.
Eligibility and Choice of Pedagogic Subjects

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed. programme should be as prescribed by NCTE, UGC, State Government and Mangalore University as listed below:

i. Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in Bachelor‘s Degree and/or the Master‘s Degree in Science/Social Science/Humanity, Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55 percent marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto are eligible for admission to the programme.

SC/ST/OBC/PWD/371(J) and any other categories/type shall be as per the rules of the Central   Government/State Government whichever is applicable

ii.   The candidate should specify whether she desires to be a
       a. Teacher for 6-8 and 9-10 std eligibility, or
       b. Teacher for 8-10 and 11-12 std eligibility (Only for PG Qualified)

Medium of Instruction : Medium of Instruction for the course will be English. However candidates may write the examination in Kannada for all papers except for language pedagogy papers.

Procedure for Admission :
The application form will be available on payment of Rs.100/- in Cash or by M.O.  Applications should reach the Principal on or before  . . . . . . . . Applicants must fill in carefully and accurately all the columns in the application form failing which the application will be rejected.  The application filled in should be accompanied by the following:

  • The enclosed  two envelopes addressed  and stamps affixed.
  • Photo Copy of I, II & III year B.A./B.Sc./B.COM./Master’s Degree marks cards.
  • Photo Copy of the Transfer Certificate from the College last attended.  
  • Photo Copy of the Conduct Certificate from the College last attended.
  • Photo Copy of the Eligibility Certificate, Migration Certificate in the case of students from Universities other than the Mangalore University.
  • Selection for B.Ed. in this institution will be based on the marks in B.A./B.Sc. /B.COM./Masters Degree. 

Candidates selected will pay the prescribed fees,  and produce the Original Marks  Cards and the Certificates mentioned  above, and four copies of passport size photographs in Saree, by the prescribed date. 

Note :

  • The candidate’s name and spelling in all the certificates and the Date of Birth in the T.C. and the Application Form should match as requirement for the Approval of Admission.
    Photo Copy of the Original Certificates should be retained while submitting the Original Certificates.
  • Admissions for B.Ed. Course begin in the month of August every year.
