Introduction
Post Graduate Department of Commerce was established in the year 2011.The department offersa two-year duration Post Graduate Programme M.Com and the programme is affiliated to Mangalore University. The first batch of M.Com passed out in the year 2013 with a semester system. Thealumni over the yearshave been successful in various industries and organizations contributing to their growth. Right from its inception, the department was fortunate to have many committed and dedicated faculty members passionately attached to teaching and research.
The student and teacher relationship is very cordial. Classroom interaction has always been a very important part of delivering lectures. As a result, the students are well-groomed and very confident. Events/Fests are conducted/celebrated through various competitions, poster making, slogan writing, elocution, etc. The Facultymembers bring the latest innovative academic practices to the classroom so that thestudents acquire critical knowledge, and develop research and analytical skills for effective problem-solving and decision-making. Field Trips are organized to different companies, industrial and business-related places. The Department thus prepares students for Industry by enabling students to experience world-class Internship Opportunities, training sessions by industry experts, Leadership Development, Personality Development, and overall Skill Enhancement through Guest Lectures and expert talks, field visits, and project tours. The department is well-equipped with adequate classrooms with modern teaching aids, seminar halls, a library and computing facilities. The department assists the PG students in obtaining financial aids/scholarships from various resources(organisations/Donors) for meritorious students and students with poor backgrounds.

To provide affordable, progressive, and quality higher education in commerce, and business with related fields to the students from all the sections of the society in particular to the underprivileged communities, and to train innovative and competent human resources suitable for industry, business, service sector, and other domains.

- To establish an industry-academia interface for generating futuristic opportunities for students in diverse areas of finance, commerce, and banking.

Objectives of the Department
- To sensitize the students to their changing roles in society through awareness-raising programmes.
- To motivate, mould and prepare the students for positions of leadership in business organizations
- To equip the students with accounting and entrepreneur skills and to inculcate the habit of lifelong learning.
- To develop a sense of civic responsibility, social commitment, and moral accountability among the students for making nation building youth.
- To produce commerce postgraduates to possess the problem-solvingskills and professionalism essential for being successful.
- To inculcate moral and personal values and commitment to the society among students
- To develop individuals with multifaceted personalities who will shoulder responsibilities of the family, the society and the nation.
