Physical Education
Physical Education department aims at fostering the whole-person development of students. Hence, our department makes great effort and takes an active role in helping students improve their physical abilities, increase their knowledge of physical activities, and enhance their confidence and motivation to participate in physical activities, so that they can ultimately cultivate a lifelong habit of participating in physical activities and enhance their physical fitness and health. Through taking part in different sports activities, students can strengthen their generic skills and develop positive psychological traits, which enable them to become physically, mentally and socially fit to confront difficulties in the Challenging workplace in the future.
Objectives of the department
- To equip student with basic skills of the selected sports.
- To motivate student to participate in physical activities.
- To have positive contributions to student’s physical fitness condition.
- To help student realise the benefits of exercise.
- To help student understand the significance of fair play and sportsmanship.
- To enhance student’s generic skills like communication, teamwork and self management.
The department of physical Education was started along with the establishment of this college in 1982. The department has contributed immensely for the growth and development of students all these years. Many students were trained and nutured by the department and these students have excelled and attained greater mile stones in sports.
To name a few students who represented our country in sports
- Mrs Sahana Kumari represented india at the Manchester Olympic games in high jump.
- Mrs Mamatha poojary represented and also captained the Indian womens Kabaddi team which was the winner in the world cup.
- Mrs Shreema Priyadarshini represented india in the SAF games.
- Mr Ganesh P represented India in Powerlifting.
Apart from all these international achievements of our students more than 162 students have represented the university team in various events
